The Goal

The goal isn’t to do business with everyone who needs what you have; the goal is to do business with people who believe what you believe.

This is the easiest mistake.

I show the next generation the way to creating their own prosperity.  This, at least on the surface, resembles entrepreneurial coaching.

By that view I could assume that my market is every entrepreneur.

And from there I could survey 1,000’s of entrepreneurs and construct a program that meets their needs.  What might that look like?  Well after talking to 1,000’s of entrepreneurs I would get nuggets from every training program they have ever seen.  I would be building a program based on averages and assuming that my market was an average person.

Are you interested in an average program?  Are you interested in a program that views you as average?

This is a race to the bottom, a race to average and a surefire recipe for commoditization.

It’s tempting though, because what I would create would be familiar and easy to explain.  That sounds and feels safe, and it’s exactly what we’ve seen most companies do, which is exactly why so many organizations fall into this trap.

People are looking for a personal connection.  They are getting more and more particular about who they spend their time with and why.  People are moving away from average products and services.  And that means that average is not safe.

What I teach and how we train is not for everyone.  It’s for people who are looking for a high performance alternative to the sugar coated average stuff that is out there.

Whatever you are building, make sure that it’s not average stuff for average people.
