With the benefit of hindsight, it would have been awesome if the founding fathers of the United States had declared interdependence.
Sure we didn’t want to be under the control of the king, but we DID want and need to transact and collaborate with everyone else. Our beef wasn’t with the people of Great Britain; it was with the tyranny of an unelected monarch.
Imagine if we took pride in our interdependence instead of working so hard to get stuff from each other so that we might finally acquire supposed financial independence.
The not so funny thing is though…there is no such thing as independence.
And the more we seek independence, the more dependent we become.
We may not be under the control of a tyrannical monarch, but then again if you pick your head up from the fray and observe what's really going on, you can see what our founding fathers worked so hard to break free from.
Let’s all keep doing what everyone else is doing, let’s all keep insulating ourselves from each other, let’s all keep looking out only for ourselves.
A nation of sheep will soon have a government of wolves.
Now is a really good time to get in the sheepdog business.
